Group dynamics (the interpersonal relationships among members of a small group) are the result of the personality and cultural backgrounds of the individual involoved, their tasks, and the nature of the physical setting. Spatial arrangements in small groups are functions of environment, task, and personality. Various cultures respond differently to the amount and arrangement of space.

In determining the physical arrangement of an interior space, the interaction distances between work groups and the tasks to be performed are very important to successful communication and social relationships. The Color may be used in various ways to influence our perception of space. Sociological determinants such as group dynamics and communication affect personal interactions within an environment. Human Behavior and the Interior Environment 2.5 study of small group ecology is important not only from the standpoint of understanding the impact of social relationships, but also from the practical standpoint of designing and maintaining a variety of functional spaces in which various relationships can be fostered.

Territoriality is a means of achieving a desired level of privacy. It involves the exclusive control of a space by an individual or group. This control implies privileges and may involve aggressive actions in its defense. For the individual, territorial control provides security and identity and is communicated through personalization and definition.

Details and Elements

Main essentials of the design is Mongolian Yurt(tent)-like design, Taiwan material and modernity. All these features are aspired from my identity of “Young Mongolian Living in Taiwan”

Recycled pieces of fabric

In this small town the mid-aged women tend to be passionate about collecting various kinds of fabric pieces. It gave the idea to volunteer those people on collecting enough fabric to cover the roof of the construction. By this way they will make a big contribution with their hobbies to the public place they going to have in their own area. Also it will be a great opportunity to adapt the new design to Neili Li’s society.

Construction is specifically made in pocket size with the range of no bigger than 6 square meters in total, according to the area and its usage. Neili Li is a tiny suburban town with reduced amount of free space, so it’s efficient that the construction don’t take much area.

Those mentioned sites are in reasonable distance from nearby residences solving the light and sound disturbance in the given neighborhood.
